4 reasons to take the family on a hike this summer

Hey readers,

A good thing to do for a family day out is to take a hike somewhere in nature whether it be through fields, up mountains, or longer trips overnight.

There are many good reasons why you should consider going hiking with your family. Below I discuss the positives of hiking with the family down below.

4 reasons to take the family on a hike this summer

Before we get into the reasons for hiking a quick look at the Oxford dictionary defines hiking as, the activity of going for long walks, especially across the country. So what the benefits you are asking? well...

1. Appreciate nature.

When being surrounded by nature you can really appreciate the beauty it has to offer. Just the simple act of walking through nature and breathing in the clean air can be so good for the soul.

If you live in an urban area it can be a pleasant change to see a setting that is all about nature. Getting connected with nature can make you appreciate natural beauty.

2. Free.

Most places in the countryside are free to walk about (though do check before you head out that it is allowed for the public to walk on). It is a great form of exercise to do with the family.

3. Building self confindce.

When you regularly take up hiking it can help build your confidence as you get past the challenges  - through building strength through working your muscles and having the resilience to go on long journeys though you may not be used to them.

3.  Available for everyone.

Hiking is accessible for everyone, young or old anyone can do it as long as they are willing to take on the challenge. It is fantastic to do with the whole family as you are working together through the hike and encouraging each other when difficult times occur.

It is also an opportunity to do something together and create memories. During hikes, it allows you to be switched off from modern life and can give you the chance to talk and learn about each other along with bonding more.

4.  Minimal equipment.

With hiking, you don't really need much equipment as long as you know ow the route you are taking and have some decent footwear you are ready to go and explore the countryside with your family.

Do you like hiking with the family? Have I missed out on any benefits of hiking together with the family? Love to hear your thoughts in the comment section down below.

10 reasons to do a staycation.

Hey readers,

Have you heard of this buzzword that is flying around called staycation if not it then the term means to choose to stay where you live or travel in your own country as appose to going on holiday abroad. Down below I have given 10 reasons why you should consider a staycation.

1  Greener.

Opting to chose to have a staycation is greenery because you are not traveling by airplane can contribute to the air emissions and using more than 4 months of driving just in one flight.

2. Stress.

Of course, opting to stay in your own country means less stress with not having travel, going somewhere that is foreign speaking and trying to communicate and generally navigating around a country that you are not familiar with. It is so much easy staying local because you know where you are and less stress travellin.

3. Local attractions.

Staying locally is a fantastic opportunity to check out somewhere new that you haven't been locally and it also helps local businesses as your putting the money into the local economy which will benefit businesses and services greatly.

4. No plan.

If you stay locally where you are familiar then you don't have to plan ahead. You can be spontaneous and it won't take a long time to get there as you are more likely to know where you are going.

5. Save money.

Because you can save money on staying locally you don't have to pay for accommodation, travel flights and the like means it is a great chance to save some money which is always a winner.

6. Tourist.

You don't have to go anywhere special to be a tourist as you can be your own tourist in your own city and check out what the local attractions are. You may even surprise yourself by finding something new that you haven't heard or tried out yet.

7. Relaxing.

When you stay local it means your relaxed as you have less stress from traveling to another country, For instance, you don't have to wait in massive ques, or finding your way to your hotel in a new country. It all adds to additional stress whereas staying in your home or traveling not far means you can relax and have not much to worry about compared to somewhere new or in a different country where it is different to what you are used to.

8. Time.

You don't have to go long holidays it can be a day out because even though holidays are meant to be relaxing going away say for two weeks is a long time it can be exhausting doing things constantly where if your at home you can relax more and not feel as much pressure to constantly go, go, go.

9. Packing.

Of course one the best elements of a staycation is not having to pack and make sure that your suitcase is the right weight with all the things you need.

10. Family/friends.

Having a staycation means it allows you to incorporate if you wish to see friends and family.

6 ways your cat says I love you.

Hey readers,

We all know cats rule ;) (Ok that is just my opinion) but so many people assume cats are cold therefore I thought I would share how a cat shows there love to their owner with 6 signs below.

1. Head-butts.

You know where your cat likes you by the way they come over and rub against your leg, clearly very happy to have you in their presence and like to be close to their owners.  Also, when cats are rubbing up against your legs they are rubbing their scent onto you as a way to say you are accepted to them and they are happy to have you in their home.

2. Sleep.

One of the lovely things about owning a cat is when the cats come and sleep on you or close by in your bed when you’re sleeping. They clearly want your company and feel safe with you around them. They can be vulnerable when they are asleep and they are happy and contented to sleep in your presence.

3. Cattail.

Though there are many different meanings to a cats tail and how the cat is feeling. A positive sign is when your cat's tail is twitching at the tip of the tail that is an indication that the cat is happy and feeling blissful around you.

4. Blink.

A cat that slow blinks at you can be interpreted that the cat is showing you affection and that they like you in their company. Cats don't willingly like to give eye contact to everyone so you’re really lucky if they do slow type blink at you as this is their way to show that they love you.

5. Kneading.

Do you notice when your cat moves their paws up and down whilst purring on you, well this is called kneading? When a cat was a kitten they would knead against their mothers to stimulate milk production. These habits don't die out when they get older and this is their way of giving you affection.

6. Greetings.

When I come home from a long day out my cat greets me with his tail up and this is another positive sign that they are happy to see you. It also shows that they have missed you and want some love form you as well.

Do you have cats? What ways do they like to show their love for you?
