Free ways to get exercise

Hey readers,

You don’t have to spend a fortune to do exercise, here are some ways to help do exercise without breaking the bank.

Free ways to get exercise

1. Couch to 5K.

A simple but beneficial one is going for a walk or a run outside. There are apps such as couch to 5k that can help you train to build your ability to run. I think it is really good to use if you’re a beginner at running.

2. Football areas.

There are football/basketball areas generally in green spaces or parks which are open to use for free where all you need to do is take a ball to kick about. It is great for taking kids along too and getting fit.

3. Youtube videos.

Online there are so many exercise videos with a wide variety of choices.  There are many you can watch without having to pay for anything.

There are sites such as YouTube or simply googling free exercise videos that come up with a host of a variety of free material for you to use at your leisure.

4. Up and down the stairs.

Another exercise you could do at home is walking up and down your stairs. It is a really good way to have a workout, not to mention the benefit of keeping your heart nice and healthy.

5. Outdoor gyms.

Have a look around locally to where you live as you might find outdoor gyms in the park. They are basically gym equipment that is accessible outside and are free to use. I personally feel it is much better to do exercise outside compared to doing it in a hot and sweaty indoor gym.

6. Green gyms.

Another new idea that I have recently come across is things called green gyms. They are free outdoor sessions where you work on practical activities such as planting trees or sowing meadows. Not only do you get a good workout but you also get that feel goodness by giving something back to the community.

7. Skipping.

Another fun way to incorporate exercise in your life is skipping if you have a skipping rope. It is fantastic to tone the legs and if you have kids they love joining in too.

8. Cleaning.

Get cleaning as it is classified as moderate exercise, so not only are you keeping fit but you are also getting your home sparkly clean.

9. Walking.

Walking is great especially if you have some good music or a podcast to listen to so you stay focused and enjoy the walk around you.

Is there anything I have missed on the list that is a free way to get the exercise that you love to do? Love to hear your thoughts in the comment section down below.

  1. When I was working as a registered child minder I had all the exercise I needed, running around after the children, carrying the tiny ones in my arms,etc#pocolo@_karendennis

  6. These are great ways to exercise. I'm a big fan of using YouTube videos, especially as there are workouts to suit everyone online. Going for a walk is always good too. I like the idea of outdoor gyms but sadly our nearest one is in poor condition and not maintained. Green gyms sound like a great idea - I'll have to look out for some of those activities near me. #MischiefandMemories

  8. What a fab list! I feel so self conscious about gyms, even though I'd love to give a few sessions a whirl. However, these are great suggestions that don't break the bank and if I'm honest, what I'd be more comfortable with! There are some brilliant (and fun) free YouTube dance work outs now :-) Thank you for joining us for #mischiefandmemories xx

  10. I started with Joe Wicks and the Couch to 5k last year and really enjoyed them. Now I just run at the weekends and school holidays. I have tried free apps for yoda and pilates but found they hurt my back :( Thanks for linking up with #MischiefAndMemories
