Hey readers,
When I heard a circus was coming back to Hearsall Common right here in Coventry I’ll admit I felt that little spark of excitement I haven’t felt since I was small.
There’s something about the words big top that instantly takes you back, isn’t there?
And with a name like OMG Planet Circus, I had to know does it live up to the hype? I grabbed the family, headed along, and I’m here to tell you: yes.
Absolutely yes.
Here’s how it went.
Magic Right on Our Doorstep.
It’s such a wonderful sight that huge, bright striped tent rising up on Hearsall Common.
We walked over from the road and there it was, beaming in the dark night, with families laughing, children pointing, and that buzzing, electric atmosphere you only get when something special has rolled into town.
It felt like the whole of Coventry had turned out to say hello.
Getting in was easy plenty of space, staff were smiling and helpful, and we found our seats without any fuss.
The big top itself is surprisingly spacious inside, warm and bright, with lights twinkling and music playing that instantly lifts your mood.
We settled in, looked around, and saw faces everywhere from tiny toddlers wide-eyed with wonder to grandparents grinning like children themselves.
Everyone was ready.
The Show Begins.
The moment it started, you could feel the energy shift.
This isn’t your old-fashioned circus there are no animals here, just people pushing what the human body can do to the absolute limit, and every single one of them is incredible.
Direct from Argentina, these daredevils and acrobats brought something so fresh and thrilling to our city.
First came the acrobats flipping, soaring, landing with precision that made you hold your breath.
Every twist, every leap had the whole tent gasping in unison.
Then there were the aerial performers floating high above us, spinning, dropping, catching themselves graceful as birds and brave beyond belief.
The strength, the timing, the trust between them it’s hard to put into words.
You just have to see it.
The clowns kept everyone laughing in between gentle fun, nothing scary, and they got the children involved in the nicest way.
No one felt picked on; everyone just felt part of it.
The Moments That Made Us Say OMG.
Then came the bits that will stay with me forever.
The Globe of Death that’s the only name for it.
A metal sphere, not that big really and inside it, motorbikes.
Not just one.
Multiple riders, circling, weaving, crisscrossing, riding upside down, inches apart from each other.
The noise, the speed, the sheer daring of it every single person in that tent was leaning forward, eyes fixed, and when they finished?
The applause was deafening.
There was the Wheel of Destiny too a giant spinning cage, with a performer walking, jumping, skipping rope on top of it no net, no safety rope, high above our heads.
Every time the wheel turned, so did our stomachs.
It was heart-stopping and magnificent all at once.
And the FMX stunt bikes flying through the air, twisting, turning these are elite daredevils doing things that shouldn’t be possible.
The roar of the engines, the whoops from the crowd, the sheer thrill of it it brought the house down.
Family-Friendly From Start to Finish.
What I loved most was how perfectly pitched it was.
The show runs for about two hours with a short interval just the right length, not too long, not too short and it’s suitable for younger children.
There were tiny babies through to great-grandparents, and every single one of them was entertained.
No one was bored, no one was frightened just wonder, pure and simple.
The interval gives you a chance to stretch your legs and yes, there’s candy floss (£5), ice cream (£5), hot dogs (£5) and drinks (£3) however bring cash for this.
There were souvenirs too light-up toys and programmes that the little kids absolutely loved.
What You Should Know.
Let me be real it’s not the cheapest afternoon you’ll have, and extras do add up.
But here’s the thing: you’re watching world-class performers who’ve trained for years, touring the country, bringing magic to places like our Coventry.
Book in advance and found family ticket options that made it manageable definitely keep an eye out for those early-bird deals.
If I’m being super-picky?
The music is loud great energy, but if you or yours are sensitive to noise, maybe take ear defenders for little ones, just in case.
And seats closest to the ring fill up fast book early for the best spots.
My Verdict Pure Joy on Hearsall Common.
We walked out as ringing from cheering, faces sore from smiling, and already talking about which bit was our favourite.
OMG Planet Circus isn’t just a show.
It’s that rare thing a proper shared experience, where for two hours nothing matters but the lights, the skill, and the wonder sitting right in front of you.
It’s alive, it’s real, it’s right here in our city and it’s magnificent.
They’re at Hearsall Common until 1 November 2026, so you haven’t missed it yet but don’t leave it too late, because shows are selling out fast.
If you need something to lift your spirits, make
memories with the family, and leave everyone saying OMG this is it.
